Why I Support Alzheimer’s Disease
By Sara Ryan, Junior Advocate
I have not been personally affected by Alzheimer’s’ disease in my family, however I have watched how my loved ones navigate the toll Alzheimer’s takes on their family; which is why I support Alzheimer’s, because no one should have to navigate through this disease on their own.
I believe that as humans, our greatest strength is our empathy for one another, especially when that empathy comes in the form of a vast support system. This support system can come in many forms, I choose to show my support for the cause with my presence and willingness to help where I can. It may seem small, but I give everything I can in the hopes it touches someone’s life in a meaningful way, which is why I choose LMJ’s.
It is through LMJ’s Lost Souls that I discovered I can make a difference in the fight for a cure for Alzheimer’s; and it is through LMJ’s that I hope you are compelled to discover this too. Together we are stronger and together we can make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.
Notes from the LMJ’s Board
Sara Ryan is a senior at Downers Grove South, and actively working on her college applications. She is a junior board member for the Grove Express Foundation. She has a long-standing history of volunteering with Misericordia Home. Sara was recently inducted into the Downers Grove South Chapter of the National Honor Society. She wants to do more to give back and continue her path of leadership. She is looking forward to studying dentistry and orthodontics.
Sara volunteered for LMJ’s Lost Souls at several events in 2023. She was a great asset to the Junior Board and we look forward to her continuing with us and mentoring the younger junior board members in the future years while she is away at college.
